Day two of the meet in Des Moines is completed with several Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk athletes competing in events.

The Mid Prairie girls’ 4×100 relay team finished second to move on to the finals today. The group senior Lexi Duwa, junior Emily Cayton, sophomore Ali Butters and junior Alex Rath clocked a time of 50.35 seconds.

The girls’ distance medley team  finished among the top 15 teams in their field. The crew of Duwa,  Rath, Greta Schmidt, and Abby Tornow posted a time of 4:21.36, the 14th best time in the Class 2A field.

The Golden Hawks also competed in the girls 4×200 meter relay team finishing just outside the top half of the Class 2A field. The group of Duwa, Cayton,  Butters, and Rath recorded a time of 1:48.69, the 13th best performance in the field.

The boys’ team had a single performer on Day two. Mid-Prairie sophomore Levi Duwa finished outside of the top eight in the Class 2A discus field. His toss of 152 feet 6 inches placed him ninth, missing the finals by a single inch. His throw was ten inches farther than his state qualifying throw from last week.

Day three of the Iowa Girls and Boys state track and field meet will be going on today at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Listen to KCII for results of the meet.
