The athleticism of Sigourney sophomore Avery Moore will be on display at this week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Moore and the Savage boys’ track team qualified for four events at the Iowa Girls and Boys High School Track and Field Meet, including the 400 meter hurdles, the long jump competition, the 4×100 meter and 4×200 meter relay.

Moores district best 400 meter hurdles time of 58.12 seconds at last Thursday’s Class 1A District 2 meet in Brooklyn ranks as the 18th best time in the state and his long jump performance of 19 feet 11.5 inches was the 19th best leap in the state.

The Savages’ 4×100 meter relay team of junior Peyton Crawford, Moore, sophomore Bryce Goldman, and junior Jordan Albert clocked a collective quarter mile run in 45.81 seconds, the 13th best time recorded in Class 1A. Sigourney’s 4×200 meter crew of Goldman, Moore, senior Blaine Long, and Alberts ran a half-mile in 1:35.46, the 16th best time posted in the state.

The first state event for the Sigourney Savage boys’ track team is Thursday at 2 p.m. when Moore will compete in the long jump.
