The reconstruction and widening of Sitler Drive in Washington is one step closer to being started. This week ,the Washington Community School Board approved a quit claims deed in regards to right of way for the work on this project. City Administrator Brent Hinson attended the school board’s meeting and explained the project will expand the street from 18 feet to 31 feet wide, with the addition of curb and gutters. Hinson added that at the curve, where there are trees, the road will be split so the trees can remain.

The portion of Sitler Drive that will be reconstructed is from B Avenue to E Avenue, just south of Washington High School. Hinson added he estimates the construction will start in the fall.
