The struggles inside the Southeast Conference continued Thursday evening for the Washington Demon boys’ soccer team. The Demons welcomed the Mount Pleasant Panthers to Washington High School for a league clash on the pitch. Mount Pleasant extended Washington conference losing streak with a 3-1 victory.
Offense was hard to come by in the first half as the match was scoreless through the first 20 minutes of game play and at intermission the Panthers only led 1-0. Mount Pleasant extended the lead to 3-0 before Washington senior Joe Smith assisted classmate Jacob Baughman on his second goal of the season to cap the scoring off at 3-1. Freshman goalkeeper Thomas Zimmer made 15 saves in the set back, giving him 105 for his inaugural season.
The loss drops Washington’s overall record to 3-8 overall and extends the Demons’ conference losing streak to nine games. The Demons return to the pitch on Monday for a non-conference clash against the Solon Spartans at Washington High School.
