The annual High School State Physics Competition was held in Cedar Falls recently and Washington High School sent a team to compete under the direction of teacher Jeffrey Richard. Overall, the Demons placed second in the state competition. The team took first in the mousetrap car division, they also placed second in the challenge problem and they were sixth in the catapult.

Washington has placed in the top three at the competition each year over the last decade.
