A Kalona business now has a slightly different name. After more than a century as Kalona Cooperative Telephone Company, it’s now Kalona Cooperative Technology Company.
Marketing Director Rory White says as they’ve become more than a telephone service provider and wanted their name to reflect that while also staying true to their roots by remaining KCTC. In addition to providing telephone, internet and television services, White says they also offer cloud services and security systems.
The company recently finished installing fiber optic cables in the Kalona area, a process that took 15 years. Fiber optics has several advantages over traditional copper lines, including faster internet.
