The City of Riverside is continuing to raise money for a community center. Money is being set aside each year, an account has been set up for donations at People’s Bank & Trust, and an online fundraising campaign through GoFundMe is up and running.

City Administrator Rusty Rogerson says they also have the $100,000 actor William Shatner donated years ago. He adds Murphy’s Bar & Grill held Cheeseburger Month in February, where 50 cents was donated for each burger sold. One month and 700 burgers later, the city was presented a check for $350.

Over $300,000 has been raised for the $4 million facility. The 11 acres next to the elementary school the city purchased a few years ago is a potential site for the building.
