The Washington area is rich in volunteers. Last year, for the City of Washington’s 175th celebration approximately 200 people volunteered to help with various events during the eight-day festival.

Amy Green, Washington County 4-H and youth coordinator, says there are currently 540 youth involved in their kindergarten through twelfth grade programs and volunteers help each level. She adds she appreciates all of the volunteers who help.

A presidential proclamation for National Volunteer Week was published April 10th with President Barack Obama encouraging Americans to volunteer and help service projects.
