Barring inclement weather, the Washington Demon girls’ soccer and boys’ and girls’ golf teams will begin regular season competition this week.
The Washington girls’ soccer team starts their season Tuesday evening in Columbus Junction in a non-conference match with the Columbus Wildcats. The Demon girls’ soccer team finished last season with a 4-10 overall record.
The Washington boys’ and girls’ golf teams will be opening up the season in different places on Thursday. The boys are scheduled to compete in a nine-hole dual with the Mount Pleasant Panthers at the Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club. Because it is a dual match, Washington will have 12 golfers competing on the varsity team, compared six in tournament competitions. The girls’ golf team is scheduled to compete in an 18-hole tournament in Keokuk to begin the season. Washington is scheduled to face Southeast Conference teams Keokuk, Fairfield, Mount Pleasant, and Fort Madison at the event.
The Washington boys’ and girls’ track teams will also be in competition two times this week. The two teams will travel to Williamsburg together on Tuesday afternoon for the Raider Relays. Then on Thursday, the two teams will host the Demon Relays at Case Field in Washington.
