The Iowa Mennonite School girls track team had their first outdoor track meet yesterday as they traveled to Belle Plaine to participate in the Belle Plaine Invitational. IMS scored 81 points as a team to placed third out of seven teams.
Leading the way was Rachel Miller who won the long jump with a personal best 14 feet three inches. She also won the 100 meter hurdles in 18.88 seconds. Riley Schmieder won both the 3000 meter and 1500 meter runs. She also placed third in the 100 meter hurdles. Demi Brezena placed second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1.06.13, which was a personal best. Emma Beachey placed second in the discus with a throw of 72 feet one inches, which was a personal best. The 4x 400 meter team which consists of Scdmieder, Avery Blauvelt, Miller and Brezina ran in third place with a time of 4.59.99.
The girls will join the boys for their next meet on Tuesday in Williamsburg.
