Another successful season for the Washington Archery team will be celebrated this upcoming week. The Washington High School, middle school, and Lincoln Elementary archery teams will be recognized during a team awards banquet Monday evening inside the Washington High School Commons.
This season marked the first time that all three schools qualified for the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) State Championship earlier this month in Des Moines. Eighteen Washington archery members have qualified the NASP National Tournament on May 7 through May 9 at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. The high school archers who qualified for the national competition include: John Sands, Jade Wells, Joseph Dalziel, Kyle Basten, Alex Sinn, Grace Shafer-Smith, Kylee Porter, Chloe Schlatter, Kennedy Hyde, Jake Crider, Shelby Mineart, Jessica Hora, Levi Black,Cody Mellinger, Mitchell Driscoll and Samantha Mellinger.
Elementary students Olin Wells and Kenna Rathmell will join the high school archers at the National Competition after finishing in the top 10 individually at the state competition.
The Washington Archery Awards Banquet will be held Monday evening at 7 p.m. inside the Washington High School Commons.
