Iowa’s annual statewide tornado drill will be held at 10 a.m. this morning. KCII’s Severe Weather Action Team will be live on the air during the event, providing interviews with area officials and information regarding severe spring and summer weather. The drill is anticipated to end at 10:30 a.m.
Cara Sorrells, director of Washington County E911, encourages citizens to register for WENS, the wireless emergency notification system to receive weather and other emergency notices on your phones.

The KCII staff is on call around the clock, every day of the week and consists of trained weather spotters. Also, KCII is connected to area authorities through Emergency Alert System equipment and is in direct contact with the National Weather Service, and Weather Eye meteorologists. And even when the power goes out we stay on air with our back up generators.
