There will only be at-large seats on the Sigourney School Board if a ballot measure passes next month. In a special election set for April 7th, voters will decide if they want to keep the seven current districts or get rid of them.

According to Superintendent Dave Harper, they’ve struggled to get candidates to run in certain districts, and points out that some write-in candidates in those districts have won with just a few votes.

If the measure is approved next month, the four seats up for election in September would be at-large and voted on by the entire district. The three remaining seats would become at-large when the current terms expire in 2017.
