Twelve days after crushing the competition at the Demon Indoor Invitational, senior Tommy Peterson put his shot put skills to the test again against the top athletes in the state. The 22nd Annual Iowa State Boys High School Classic was held at Iowa State University Tuesday afternoon and coach Steve Roth had three of his athletes competing in the meet.
Peterson, who won the Demon Indoor Invitational with a throw of 52 feet 9 inches, threw the shot put 52 feet 11.25 inches to place first at the tournament. Peterson, who won his first meet by nearly five feet, edged the second place finisher, sophomore Coy Kirkpatrick of Madrid, by a mere tenth of an inch.

Finally, junior Michael Ellingson competed in the high jump for the Demons. He recorded a jump of 5 feet 6 inches, tying him for 22nd place in the meet.
