The final home game for five Washington Demon senior basketball players didn’t have a happy ending. The Demons boys’ basketball team (5-15 overal; 1-7 Southeast) host the Williamsburg Raiders in non conference clash. The game is the first of two meetings between the schools in less than a week.

Washington had three players score in double figures, but Williamsburg’s offense proved to be too much in a 73-54 victory. Senior Josh Koeppel had a game-high 23 points, while senior Zach Schlaubaugh added 22 points in the victory.

Washington senior guard Gage Redlinger scored 13 points in his final home game, while senior Thomas Bump added 11 points. Other seniors playing their final home game last night included Daryn Sebelius, Blake Weidman, Isahiah Zuehlke, and Jacob Baughman.

Washington freshman forward Javionn Willis had another career high scoring performance, scoring 11 points off the bench, including three made three point shots in the second half.

Washington is scheduled to face Williamsburg again next Monday in the opening round of the Class 3A District 9 tournament at Clear Creek Amana High School.

The loss is the ninth straight for the Demon boys’ basketball team, dropping their overall record to 5-15. Washington finishes the regular season on the road this Thursday evening against the Grinnell Tigers.
