Heading into their Southeast conference battle with the Fairfield Trojans on Jan. 23, the Washington Demon boys’ basketball team (5-11 overall’ 1-6 Southeast) was one win away from evening their overall record to .500 (5-6). The Demons lost the game with the Trojans 44-42 and their following four games to drop their overall record to 5-11 heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
Washington has another opportunity to stop the losing streak tonight as the Demons travel to West Liberty High School for a non-conference clash with the Comets (3-15 overall). West Liberty has also gone through hard times recently, losing 12 of their previous 13 games. These two teams met last season in Washington with the Comets defeating the Demons 61-40.
Last time out, senior guard Thomas Bump and junior guard Derek Anding combined to score 45 points in a 70-56 setback to the Tipton Tigers. Senior Gage Redlinger, junior Jack Giardino, and sophomore Bryce Sinn combined to score the other nine points in the loss.
