Motorists stranded near Hills were rescued via snowmobile during Sunday’s snowstorm. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office received a report at around 6:30 p.m. of two stranded vehicles on 540th Street east of Sand Road.

The first vehicle was occupied by a pregnant female and her two-year-old child. The driver of the second vehicle got stuck while trying to help the first vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office responded with a snowmobile, transported them to Sand Road, and they were all given rides home.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, they’ve had snowmobiles for over 30 years, and while they aren’t needed often, they have been useful in situations like this.
