The Iowa Mennonite Boys’ basketball team played at home last night in a Southeastern Iowa Super Conference showdown as they played Louisa-Muscatine. As heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com, IMS would lose a close one at home to L-M 36-35.
Iowa Mennonite School got off to a slow start with Louisa-Muscatine going on a 14-0 run in the first quarter. IMS found themselves down at the end of the first 16-7. IMS would crawl back in the second quarter, down just four points at half 20-16.
IMS would be down most of the second half and with three minutes to go in the game IMS was down by six 33-27. However, with a couple of stops and big shots by junior Eli Gingerich, IMS went on an 8-0 run and led with a minute to go in the game 35-33. L-M would get a big three-pointer from junior Daulton Leach to put the Falcons back up three points with the score 36-35 with under 30 seconds to go in the game. IMS had one last shot in the final seconds, but Peyton Miller’s shot fell short. L-M swept the season series against IMS.
IMS’s Gingerich had a big night with 23 points in the game and hitting five three pointers. L-M had a solid performance from junior Bradley Wachtel who netted 21 points to finish the game.
IMS will next go to Mediapolis (3-11) tomorrow to take on the Bulldogs.
