The Mid-Prairie girls’ basketball team (8-4) played in a River Valley Conference showdown last night at home hosting the West Liberty Comets (7-8). As heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com the Golden Hawks would come away with the victory against their conference opponent winning with a score of 54-44.
Mid-Prairie found themselves down early in the game and trailing by three at halftime, 24-21. After the third quarter rolled the score was tied at 32-32. In the fourth quarter the Golden Hawks pulled away, outscoring the Comets 22-12.
Mid-Prairie’s senior Taylor Kurtz had her highest scoring game of the season getting a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Ali Riggan had a solid outing getting 10 points with three assists.
The Golden Hawks are now 9-4 and will take their five-game winning streak to Iowa City to take on conference leader Iowa City Regina tomorrow night.
