Budget cut decisions at Keota School District will be made by March. The Keota School Board is currently gathering information on the positions that might get cut. At their last meeting, the board invited the elementary music teacher, a health associate and the central office secretary to provide an overview of what their job entails.
Superintendent Mark Schneider says over the past two years, the amount in the district’s unspent balance has been declining. The unspent balance is the difference between what the state allows Keota to spend, and the amount that’s actually spent, which serves as a cushion for the district. He explains the budget cuts will be an attempt to stop or reverse this trend.
A decision will be made in February or March.
