The Keota girls’ basketball team (7-6) will be having their homecoming game tonight as they play in a South Iowa Cedar Conference showdown versus Belle Plaine (6-6).
The Eagles went into January with a 7-3 record but have lost three in a row. The Eagles average 36 points per game and are giving up an average of 38.3 points per game. They are led by senior Madison Sheetz who averages 13 points per game. Senior Madison Sieren has 11.8 points per game and is the team’s best free throw shooter shooting at 77.8 percent.
Belle Plaine is also currently on a losing streak having lost their last two games. They are led by senior Marisa Pope with an average of 14.3 points per game. Junior Morgan Straight has 11.8 points per game.
The last time these two met was back in December at Belle Plaine. The game was competitive going into halftime with Belle Plaine up 19-14, but they would out score Keota 27-13 in the second half to secure the victory 46-27.
