The Washington Demon wrestling team (18-1 overall) continues to rack up wins in the dual season. The Demons competed in a quadruple dual Tuesday evening at Lone Tree High School involving Tipton, English Valleys, and Lone Tree.
Washington won each of their duals in convincing fashion. Against Lone Tree, the Demons won all but one match in a 69-6 victory. Lone Tree’s Alex Yedlik scored the only points for the Lions in a win by forfeit. Washington had six wrestlers score forfeit victories in the dual.
Against English Valleys, Washington earned six pins, two major decisions, and two forfeits in a 56-18 dual win. English Valleys got their points on a pin and two forfeits.
Finally against Tipton, the Demons racked up five wins, a technical fall, and three forfeits to earn a 59-22 victory over the Tigers. Tipton scored their points off of a pin, a major decision, and two forfeits.
Nine Washington wrestlers who scored wins in each of their matches last night include: sophomore Alex Latcham (106; 2 falls, forfeit), sophomore Kyle Anderson (120; 2 forfeits, fall), sophomore Austin Hazelett (126; fall, major decision, forfeit), junior Michael Ellingson (132; 2 falls, forfeit), sophomore Trey Van Weelden (138; fall, decision, forfeit), junior Bryce Rickey (160/170 3 falls), senior Brad Skubal (195; technical fall, major decision, forfeit), sophomore Seth Townsen (220; 2 falls, forfeit), and freshman Mitchell Huisenga (285; fall, two forfeits).
Washington’s wrestlers return to the mat tomorrow evening for their final conference dual meet of the season against the Mount Pleasant Panthers at Washington High School where the Demons can secure the conference title with a win.
