The City of Wellman and a telephone cooperative are renegotiating the terms of their contract. Wellman Cooperative Telephone Association has had their equipment on the Wellman water tower since 2006. When they wanted to install additional cellular equipment for an upgrade earlier this year, it was discovered that their lease agreement with the city had expired.

According to City Administrator Nick Pacha, they’re now renegotiating the contract, and seeking an increase to the amount they charge the cooperative. During the cooperative’s board meeting Pacha attended earlier this month, the directors decided they would like 90 days to explore their options.

The service provider currently pays the city $500 a year.
