Lebowski Rock n Bowl in Washington plays host to a major Southeast Conference bowling meet this afternoon. The Washington bowling team opens the home portion of their schedule against the Keokuk Chiefs.
Washington bowling coach Sally Reigard says Keokuk has always had very good bowling teams. “In fact, their girls’ (team) has won the state title a couple of times,” Reigard said, “(However), as in all high school bowling, some of their better bowlers have since graduated. Maybe we can match up a little bit better with them this year.”
Keokuk’s girls’ bowling team is the defending Class 1A state champions.
The season for the Washington bowling teams got underway last Saturday at Iris Lanes in Mount Pleasant. The boys’ team had four bowlers score 300 plus points in their two rounds of competition in a 2849-2479 setback to the Panthers. The bowlers who scored above 300 last Saturday include Colin Zear (So.) Jon Graf (So.), Kylan Gillette (So.), and Tucker Renox (Fr.). For the girls’ bowling team, Kailey Martin (Sr.) was the only player to have a two-round score above 300 in a 2301-1827 setback to Mount Pleasant.
The first frames of the meet are set to begin at 2 p.m.
