The Sigourney Savage boys’ basketball team has found success during the early portion of their 2014-15 season. The Savages, who won just seven games last season, are out of a 3-0 start after a 50-49 road victory at Iowa Valley on Friday evening.

Part of the reason for the success is the due to the Savage’s offensive efficiency. Sigourney is averaging 61 points per game this season, over 12 points better than they averaged all of last season. Junior’s Blaine Gretter and Matus Stevko are leading the Savages in scoring, averaging 19 and 18 points respectively.

The Sigourney boy’s basketball team plays three games over the next five days. The Savages start the week with back to back home games against English Valleys tonight and the Keota Eagles tomorrow evening. Sigourney ends their week on the road facing the Lynneville-Sully Hawks.
