More than $660,00 has been awarded to three advanced biofuel producers in Iowa, including more than $50,000 for a producer in Washington County. Congressman Dave Loebsack announced the funds are from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Advanced Biofuel Payment Program. Iowa Renewable Energy, LLC, in Washington received $50,897. The funds are used to support the production of biofuels from sources other than corn kernel starch and were established in the 2008 farm bill. Other sites receiving funds are in Newton and Clinton.

Renewable Energy Group, INC (based in Ames with a plant in Newton) – $594,293
