Two Southeast Iowa Super Conference rivals meet on the volleyball court tonight for a chance to advance to the regional semifinals. The Lone Tree Lions welcomes the Iowa Mennonite School for a Class 1A Region 7 quarterfinal matchup.

The Iowa Mennonite School advanced to the regional quarterfinals by defeating English Valleys in four sets (25-23, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16) last Tuesday in North English. Junior Natalie Garber lead IMS’s offense with 11 kills, while seniors Demi Brezina and Hannah Miller collected 14 digs each in the victory. On the season, senior Riley Schmieder leads IMS with 142 kills, while Miller leads the team with 419 assists. Defensively, Brezina leads IMS with 240 digs, while Garber team leader with 17 blocks.

Lone Tree comes into the contest off a straight set win over Rivermont Collegiant (25-11, 25-16, 25-11) last Tuesday. Sophomore Elena Sieverding collected a team high 8 kills and six digs in the victory. On the season, Sieverding leads the Lions’ offense with 153 kills, while junior Hailey Comer leads Lone Tree with 274 assists. Defensively, sophomore Liz Dodson leads the Lions with 278 digs, while Sieverding leads Lone Tree with 53 blocks.

This regional quarterfinal is a rematch of a conference tilt played earlier this season. It was the Iowa Mennonite School winning the first matchup in straight sets (25-23, 25-21, 25-14) back on September 30th in Kalona. The rematch will serve at 7 p.m. at Lone Tree High School.
