Washington County’s Attorney is being fined. The Iowa Public Information Board charged Larry Brock earlier this year after it took him three months to respond to a public records request.
The Board entered an order yesterday approving the decision made by an administrative law judge who reviewed Brock’s case. The judge’s written ruling issued last month stated that Brock should face a penalty of $1,000 for violating the state’s open records law. Brock had 30 days to appeal the decision, but chose not to.
Deputy Director of the IPIB, Margaret Johnson, says according to Iowa code, the damages will be paid by the court imposing the fine to the local government body involved, which is Washington County.
