WASHINGTON- The Washington Demons will be in unfamiliar territory when they run onto Case Field tonight.
Last week’s 20-17 loss to Clear Creek Amana dropped the Demons to 1-2 on the year and left them winless in the district.  Washington is back at home tonight as they face off against the  Fairfield Trojans, who come into the match up 2-1 overall and is opening up their district season this evening. Washington head coach Garrison Carter says tonight’s game is a must win, as well as every district game from here on out.
“We expect to host playoff games and we expect to make a deep playoff run and its hard to do that when you lose multiple games,” Carter said.
Carter pointed to red zone scoring as a place the Demon’s need to improve on if they want to turn the season around. Washington’s early season losing record isn’t fooling their longtime rivals. Fairfield head coach Mike Schenck (Skank) says the Demon’s maybe the best 1-2 football in Class 3A.
“They have played such a very difficult schedule. and I think that is going to pay off for Washington in the long run.” Schenck said. “I am not sure there are many teams in our district with the calibar of competition they have played in the first three weeks.”
Schenck says a big key for his team is to limit Washington’s first down output, and put the Demon’s in obvious passing situations.  Washington and Fairfield face off in district play this evening and you can hear all the action beginning with the Washington Hyvee Pregame show on FM 106.1 KCII and online at kciiradio.com.
