One person died and another was transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa hospitals following a car vs. semi accident on Highway 218 early this morning. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 218, just north of Ainsworth at approximately 1:03 a.m. Two injuries were reported.

Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Transportation, Ainsworth Fire Department, Ainsworth QRS, Washingotn Rescue, Washington County Ambulance, Medical Examiner Dr. Robin Plattenberger, Jones and Eden Funeral Home, Tri-State Towing and Moore’s BP responded to the accident scene.
