The Winfield-Mt.Union football team went 3-6 last year, and have quite a few players to replace in 2014.

Quarterback is the first spot they will need to look at with the graduation of Max Fricke, the Wolves have no proven backup to take over his workload. Fricke was also the leading rusher, but Thayne McElhinney and Darren Hunter will take most of the handoffs this year, with McElhinney leading the way with 667 yards and three touchdowns. The quarterback that takes over for Fricke will have a good core group of receivers despite losing their top receiver, but bringing back Garrett Baker with 10 catches and four touchdowns, and Lake Carlson with six catches for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Wolves bring their top two tacklers back in Kyle Davis with 70, and Sam Jennings with 63. They do lose No. 3, 4 and 5, but the young players coming up should fill those positions.

WMU starts off the season at home against Iowa Valley tomorrow, and then travel to Wapello. They host Cardinal, travel to Danville and Lone Tree, host New London and WACO and then travel to Van Buren and Pekin to wrap up the season.
