The Winfield- Mt. Union volleyball team is coming off another great season where they fell just short of going to state.
This year the Wolves have the issue to replacing seniors. WMU loses their top three attackers, top setter and top defensive player. They do bring back Samantha Jamison on the attack side of things who had 99 kills, Lou Krieger-Coen who had 84 kills, and Nicole Escher who had 77 kills last year.
Defensively they have some slight experience, but where they will need to find someone quickly is at the setter position. WMU lost their No. 1 and 2 to graduation, and have no one returning that was out of single digits.
Head coach Dave Pieart said he feels his team is still just reloading instead of rebuilding.
WMU kicks off the season on August 28th at a tournament against Pekin and West Burlington. They play their first big conference match on September 16th against IMS, and will play the SEISC tournament on September 25th, before the end of the season is anywhere in sight.
The Wolves wrap up their season with Wapello on October 14th
