Most of the state’s topsoil and subsoil moisture is adequate at this time. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, subsoil moisture in Iowa is 77% adequate and 17% surplus. Approximately 26% of the corn acreage is silking, 25 points ahead of last year with 76% of the corn crop in good to excellent condition. Also, last week farmers had 4.8 suitable days in Southeast Iowa to work in the fields.
