Never leave a pet in a parked car. Director of Paws and More animal shelter Amber Talbot is reminding pet owners to be smart when it comes to high temperatures, as animals can die from heat stroke in a matter of minutes. She states a car can become an oven, where it may be 90 degrees outside but in just seven minutes the temperature inside the vehicle can climb above 110 degrees.
Talbot adds if someone sees an animal in a parked vehicle, contact a store manager and ask page the owner of the vehicle or call the local non-emergency number. For Washington the safety center’s non-emergency phone number is 653-2107.
Talbot also reminds pet owners to provide plenty of shade and water for animals that are kept outdoors.
