The Washington City Council discussed further action regarding the former public library at last night’s special session meeting. Washington County Public Health Director Danielle Pettit-Majewski stated public health will no longer be renting space in the building. She said public health had the opportunity to move to a single building.

The council has decided to seek requests for proposal for the purchase of the building. Councilman Russ Zieglowsky stated the building may be useful to somebody but it may not be useful as city hall. The council will not only consider price, but also the intended use. The building was constructed in 1952 and has approximately 9,600 square feet.
