The visiting Danville Bears put on an offensive show Friday night in a 17-3 softball win over IMS in three innings. The Bears got it rolling with a big first inning posting seven runs on four hits and one IMS error, in the frame Danville sent 13 batters to the plate. IMS countered with a single run in their first at bat as they loaded the bases and Stasia Majerick drew a walk to drive in McKayla Brush.
The hit parade continued for the Bears in the second inning as they would send 15 batters to the plate, pounding out eight hits and 10 runs before the inning was stopped by the umpires on the runs per inning rule. Trailing 17-1 IMS came back to the plate and scored once more when Rachel Miller came around on an RBI walk to Jacayla Litwiller. The Bears did not score in their third inning leaving IMS with a need of four runs to keep the game going. IMS would score once when Majerick came in on a throwing error but it was not enough to stave off the early end.
Offensively Majerick led IMS with one hit, one run scored and an RBI. IMS is now 2-7 overall and 2-7 in Superconference play. IMS will travel to Wapello Monday night.
