A minor subdivision near Kalona was approved at this week’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. The five-lote minor subdivision is known as the Swamp Subdivision southwest of Kalona and Highway 1. The current owners are dividing the parcel into five new lots, four of which are for possible construction of additional buildings and the fifth is for a private lane.

Neighboring landowner Bradley Heiman expressed concern regarding water drainage issues. Jennine Wolf, Environmental Health Administrator, explained all of the Department of Natural Resources requirements were met. The subdivision is located entirely in a floodplain.
