Washington County ranks number one in the state in a number of solar energy related fields. According to the Iowa Department of Revenue, Research and Analysis Division, Washington County had the highest number of projects between 2012 and 2014 in Iowa with 88. The total value for these projects was nearly $4.7 million. Also, the county received the most tax credits with $701,132.
Washington Economic Development Group Director Ed Raber points out Washington County has used over 22% of all of the solar tax credits in the Hawkeye State, and has more than double the amount of credits in Dubuque County which ranks 2nd and has 58 projects.
