The Mid-Prairie soccer team found their way to the state tournament for the first time in school history this year, and today they take on Oakland Riverside in the first round.
The Golden Hawks come in with just two losses on the season to West Liberty, and hopes those are the only ones they have all season. Mid-Prairie has the one of the top scorers left in the all of the state regardless of class with Austin Errthum with 73 points, 25 goals and 23 assists. Mid-Prairie packs a serious one-two punch with Wyatt Cady being the second scorer on the team with 18 goals and 10 assists, and had some back up scoring with Nick Stimson with nine goals and five assists. In net, Mid-Prairie looks to a couple of different players, with Spencer Shalla and Nathan Faselt both splitting time, and letting in six goals a piece.
Oakland Riverside is ranked No. 7 in the state, and comes in 16-2. They are a well rounded team with two players standing out on paper in the goal column. Tanner Ford has 19 goals and eight asssits, while Tucker Bluml has 15 goals and three assists on the season. Oakland Riverside may think more about offense than defense, as Brandon Sipherd has locked down the net, taking 124 shots all season and only allowing 12 goals against.
