Approximately 15 county employees attended ALICE training in the courtroom yesterday morning. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate which are options for people that may be in a situation with a violent intruder, such as a shooter at a hospital or school. The presentation was conducted by Keota Police Chief Doug Conrad and Eric Weber an officer with the Washington Louisa County Drug Task Force.

Weber stated he has helped with presentations at a number of area schools and churches and states in crisis situations people have three ways to respond: run, hide or fight. He also stressed that time is critical, as officials cannot assist at the scene until they are notified of the situation.
