The Mid-Prairie boys soccer team takes on area school Highland tonight.

The Golden hawks come into the game fresh off their 14-0 thrashing of Wapello and will play The Huskies for the first time today, and then again a week later.

Mid-Prairie is 10-2 this season and has only allowed eight goals to their 48. Austin Errthum and Wyatt Cady are a big reason the Golden Hawks have so many goals, with Errthum having 15 goals and Cady right behind with 11 goals on the season, but it looks like Austin will be gone due to district track.

Highland is 6-5 on the season and has scored 41 goals, but given up 21. Bryan Garcia is the leading scorer with 13 goals, but Jesse Wollrab has an even nine goals and nine assists this year, and Josh Brace has six goals on the year.

Mid-Prairie head coach Pat Cady said Highland is a good club, and without a couple of his good players, they are a team that could be dangerous.

“Highland has been playing some good soccer this year, following in our footsteps a little bit. Lynn’s done a good job with that club over there, each year they keep improving,” Cady said. “When we play them Thursday night, I think both of the Errthum brothers are going to be off running track somewhere, so we are going to be without a couple of our more talented guys gone, so someone is going to have to step up and fill that position. I think we’ll be fine, but still someone has to step up.”

Tonight’s match is at Mid-Prairie and starts at 6.
