Several severe weather warnings were issued this afternoon, and many remain in effect. The initial severe thunderstorm warning for Washington County came in at around 3:30. It was followed by a tornado warning in Keokuk and Iowa counties. Before the thunderstorm warning expired at 5pm, the wind blew down power lines along Highway 92 near Keota, and a semi traveling through Washington County on Highway 218 was blown over. Wind speeds were as high as 50mph in some places and downtown Washington received an inch of rain. The severe thunderstorm watch for Washington County expires at 9pm.
