Trees will soon be planted across the area as part of Branching Out grants that are awarded through a partnership between Trees Forever and Alliant Energy. Over $100,000 will go to 32 communities to plant trees. The City of Washington is receiving $1,800 through the grant that is working with local care facilities.

The Branching Out program supports energy efficiency with strategic tree planting, improving the quality of life, increasing environmental awareness and encouraging volunteer involvment.
