Approximately 3 inches of snow fell in Washington last night and this morning. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the listening area until 6 p.m. tonight. This warning of heavy snow means that 6 inches or more is expected and travel conditions will be dangerous. A total snow accumulation of 5 to 8 inches is expected for southeast Iowa.
The NWS is advising that people only travel in an emergency. Visibilities may be reduced to less than a quarter mile at times this morning.
