Future improvements to Kalona’s Public Works building have been proposed. An addition to increase the size of the shop at 711 A Avenue was selected as one of the City’s capitol projects. On top of the $55,000 addition, a three stall bay will be added to the shop to store material like salt and sand. That will cost around $30,000. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says their current material shed, which is in poor condition, will be demolished.
