The Highland boy’s basketball team wrapped up the first half of the season with a 5-1 record, and looks to push through the second half of the season the same way.
The Huskies lost in the second game of the season to IMS, but since have sprinted through the other teams they have played. They kick off the second half with the team they share second with in Pekin on Saturday.
Highland head coach Marcus Hall said Pekin will be a tough contest, especially coming out of the break.
“The Pekin game on January 4th is going to be one of our biggest challenges to date, I think Pekin’s three, four, five are about as good as anyone in the league,” Hall said. “They’re physical on the boards, they are efficient on the floor, so that will be a big time challenge for us,” Hall said.
Past the first game, the Huskies host Mediapolis, before a four game road trip in which they face West Burlington and Lone Tree on back-to-back days, IMS the following Tuesday and Columbus Junction on Friday January 17th, all in nine days.
In the first half Highland had no problems scoring, they finished with a 12.8 point differential per game over their opponents.
They kick things off on Saturday at Pekin.
