The 2-2 Demon girl’s basketball team travels to Ottumwa tonight.

The last two games for the Demons have been close ones, with an overtime loss to Williamsburg and a two point loss to Solon, the Demons are looking to jump back on the winning train before Fairfield on Friday.

The Demons are shooting 27.5 percent from the floor, 22 percent from behind the arc and just 52.9 percent from the free throw line. The Demons are currently 10th in shots attempted, and 44th out of 48 schools in 3A in field goal percentage. The Demons are first in attempted free throws, leading second place Fairfield by 20 shots, so Washington has a lot of chances on offense.

The Demons have 46 steals on the season which is typical for their aggressive defensive style, but also have 83 turnovers, both of which place them in the top 10 in each category.

Dema Giardino is the leading scorer, with 10.8 points per game, while Stephanie Fishback is behind her with 9.5 and Grace Redlinger third with 8.3.

Ottumwa is 0-2 losing to Fairfield to start the season and Ankeny second. They lost both games by a combined eight points.

As a team they are shooting 45 percent from the floor on just 80 chances, 30.8 percent from three point range, and just 27.1 percent from the charity stripe, going 13-48. They have turned it over 32 times in two games and have 14 steals.

They are led by Megan Black with 11 points per game, and shooting 64.7 percent from the post position. She is followed by Rachel Zingg with nine points per game.

The Demons and Ottumwa play tonight at Ottumwa with a 7:30 tip-off.
