Also, the Help Us Stop Hunger or HUSH program is open. The program helps reduce the deer population while providing meat for those in need in Iowa. Deer hunters can donate their deer to area meat lockers, who in turn proces the meat for free and give it to area food banks. Last season, 5,281 deer were donated which generated 880,000 meals for Iowans. For a list of area meat lockers that participate click here.
