It was a Winfield-Mt. Union sweep last night over L-M, with both the boy’s and the girl’s team grabbing wins.

The Lady Wolves used stout defense to stop any advance that L-M had, holding them to two points through three minutes left to go in the first half, before finally letting in some offense and leading 22-10 at half.

In the second half WMU wasn’t as nice, giving up six points in the third quarter and no points in the fourth quarter to L-M. The girls went on to win 44-16 over L-M. WMU had a big night from Shelby Therme who had 16 points to lead the game. Logan Hartsock was the second leading scorer with eight points.

In the boy’s game, WMU had a little more work to do than the girls, playing from behind most of the game against L-M.

WMU was down at half 27-24, and didn’t make much up in the third quarter either, down 36-32 to L-M. The Wolves buckled down though and tied it up with four minutes left to go before gradually pulling away for the 57-53 win.

Max Fricke was the leading scorer of the game with 15 points, while Zach Davis and Jake Edwards each had 12 points on the night.

The WMU girls improve to 3-0, while the boys win their first game and go to 1-0, both teams travel to WACO on Friday.
