A decision will be made on whether to move a juvenile’s trial to adult court at a hearing in January. The prosecution and defense will use the time leading up to the January 8th hearing to gather information about the 15-year-old, who’s accused of giving birth and leaving the baby to die in a Libertyville home in October. The prosecution filed a waiver to try the defendant in adult court as a youthful offender last week. Jefferson County Assistant Attorney Patrick McAven says, if the judge decides to approve the waiver, she would be treated as a juvenile until she turns 18.
